PREGNANT WOMEN FORCED TO DELIVER ON BENCHES
Lack of hospital beds at the Opokukrom Health Center in Ahafo Ano South
West District of the Ashanti region has forced pregnant women to deliver
on benches.
Attendance at the Out Patients Department of the facility, which serves about 25,000 people in 22 communities, has increased making it difficult for staff to attend to pregnant women in labour.
The doctor in charge of the health center, Dr. Castro Adu Obeng revealed this to Adom News.
According to him, medical staff are forced to administer treatment on benches, chairs and on the floor.

POLICE KILL TWO ARMED ROBBERS
Two armed robbers have been shot dead by Police in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, Classfmonline.com has gathered.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 30 June 2016.

PRESIDENT MAHAMA WAS HOOTED BY TWO PEOPLES IN EJISU
Two people have been arrested by the Ejisu Police in the Ashanti Region
for reportedly hooting at the president and hurling stones at his
convoy.
The two, whose names have yet to be disclosed were part of an army of protesters who had lined up on the streets of Ejisu and adjoining communities where the president had gone to inspect some development projects as part of his accounting to the people tour.
It is not clear yet, the motive for their hooting at the president, Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah reported.
According to him, the Parliamentary Candidate for Ejisu, Gloria Huze who was part of the convoy sustained minor injuries from the stone attacks

Supreme Court’s 6-day ultimatum to EC expires today 29 June.

The order, which was issued on Thursday June 23, asked the Commission to furnish it with the information in six days, to enable it bring closure to the matter.
The panel of five judges also asked the Commission to provide them with a detailed plan on how they were going to carry out the deletion and re-registration of the same people who would be affected.

S.P Kofi Sarpong has come under serious attack for performing Kofi
Kinaata’s “Susuka” song at a gospel Rock Show event last Sunday.
The
awarding winning artiste and current gospel artiste of the year after
performing a couple of his songs decided to give some inspiration to
patrons. He crowned that up with Susuka.

did he know that a fellow gospel artiste – Naa Mercy who is well known

A PRISONER OFFICER HANGED HIMSELF
A 33-year-old Prison officer has committed suicide at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Tano North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The deceased whose name was only given as Budu is said to have hanged himself in his room.
Adom News’ Brong Ahafo Regional correspondent, Augustine Kwadwo Mframa reported that, residents expressed shock at his sudden demise.
They indicated that

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),
Anthony Abayifa Karbo has called on the Electoral Commission to comply
with the recent Supreme Court order.
Anthony
Karbo was of a strong view that the EC is an institution mandated by the
constitution of the land and so, can't assume a position bigger than
the laws of the country.
The country's apex
court presided by the Chief Justice Georgina Wood has ordered the
Electoral Commission to feed the court with the names of National Health
Insurance Scheme card (NHIS) registrants in the voter's register and
further provide the steps that the Commission will adopt to delete the
names.

The Otumfuo Center For Traditional Leadership(OCTL)
The Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership (OCTL) at the University
of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) at the weekend graduated its
second batch of 50 traditional rulers.
The 50 paramount and divisional chiefs from across the length and breadth of the country who participated in the five-day course were trained in the areas of land administration and management, conflict resolution and gender issues.
The programme which is made up of three stages; had first time participants receiving certificates of participation, while second timers received certificates in traditional leadership and chieftaincy.
In the near future, the Centre would award traditional rulers who are able to go through the third stage of the programme successfully with diplomat certificates.
Dr Oko Amartey, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, UPSA, said, the University is considering scaling up the programme for traditional leaders to the masters level in the near future.
He urged the chiefs to help promote peace and unity in the country for socio-economic development.
He lauded the chiefs for successfully going through the programme; and urged them to impact what they had learnt to the development of the society.

COURT TO PRONOUNCE VERDICT ON AFOKO'S CASE

Following
the NPP’s victory over its 2nd vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, in court,
some functionaries of the party have been rejoicing, claiming that, the
former Greater Accra Chairman’s defeat is a foretaste of what would
befall the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko.
However,
legal and political pundits hold contrary views. They observed that the
impending judgment in the Afoko case will rather portend danger to the
NPP’s already ‘fragile situation’ no matter the outcome.

Mr. Afoko wins the case, the NPP will be in trouble; if he loses no one

According to the group, the New
Patriotic Party’s (NPP) aggressive and successful inroads in what until
now has been a solid bastion of unwavering NDC support, the Volta Region, gives credence to fears that that the three-time opposition
flagbearer could defeat President John Mahama in November.

The NPP ahead

launch their manifesto – after a strong accusation of “theft” by the NDC
of their philosophies in their 2012 manifesto which was outdoor days
before elections.
According to Peter Mac Manu,
Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) they will wait until
the NDC launches its manifesto before they will make theirs public.
But
his claims have been heavily picked apart by the deputy General
Secretary of the ruling NDC, Mr Koku Anyidoho in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed ‘Ghana Montie

Lashing at
the Mahama government for combining incompetence and corruption to
create the toxic waste explosive economy, Dr. Bawumia said if Ghanaians
commit the mistake of giving President Mahama and the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) another term, the NDC would tax the air
Ghanaians breathe to run the messed up economy.
Sounding
quite vexed at the happenings in the country, Dr. Bawumia said: “What
nonsense is this? If the NDC is not serious about the economy, I want to
tell them here and today that, the NPP and Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo
are very serious about it. Mahama and his incompetent government are
joking with us, in fact.”
Addressing a charged
gathering of NPP supporters in Tema on Saturday, Dr. Bawumia said
instead of Mahama and his government growing the economy by putting
exemptions on some imports, he had rather found every means to ‘steal’
every money Ghanaian businesses earn, including from the suffering
citizen.

Flagbeare of Ghana Freedom Party

The ace journalist is on record as describing the Presidential hopeful as a disgrace to Ghanaian women due to her inability to speak the English Language and comments she normally puts across.
But Madam Akua Donkor, speaking on Bryt FM expressed shock at the comments and quizzed the integrity of the renowned journalist.
"If she was properly trained at home, I don't think she would have come out to say all those useless things," She said profusely.
She also insisted it is mere jealousy because of her political success over the years.
"I know she is just jealous of me and I see it as a plot against my hard earned labour," She added.
On her educational background, she quizzed the anchor rhetorically, "How many Ghanaians are educated as compared to illiterates?"
No Leakage of Examination Papers-BNI
Officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) will be accompanying the transportation and distribution of this year’s BECE examinations papers.
