Constituency Chairman, Hope Fiagbeyo confirmed this to Adom News Wednesday.
He explained that solicitors of the MP served that party with the letter about his sudden resignation cting personal reasons.
But Chairman Fiagbeyo suspects the MP might have stepped down due
to ill health considering the vigorous electioneering campaign ahead of the general elections.
He indicated that party at the National, Regional and Constituency levels have all accepted his decision and as a result has opened nominations. Chairman Fiagbeyo conceded that the exit of Hon. Amankwanor could have a negative effect on the party’s electoral fortunes in the impending election.
Chairman Fiagbeyo expressed shock by the decision of the incumbent MP since his candidature could have secured the seat for them.
The Upper West Akim NDC Chairman said they will open nomination on Thursday June 23, 2016 for interested person to pick forms.
Mr. Hope Fiagbeyo added that parliamentary primaries will be held on 9th July to elect another candidate to Parliament.
